And that was just one surprise from our Coffee Day story…

Mari, Michael and Ana holding coffee samples for International Coffee Day 2025

Hello!

We haven’t written in a while, but today felt like the perfect moment to reconnect.

International Coffee Day (Oct 1) isn’t just about celebrating coffee. For us, it’s about celebrating collaboration—the way this simple seed connects people across oceans.

Because we roast and package right here in Nicaragua, collaboration happens in two directions:

  • Globally, with cafés, shops, and coffee lovers like you in the U.S.

  • Locally, with our own communities, where small efforts ripple into lasting change.

—the backbone of our business and sustainability.

KICKBALL JOY - COLLABORATION IN ACTION

A few years ago, Colin and I realized we’d need to think outside the box for Lucille’s education. One of our first ideas? Ask around for a teacher who might enjoy a tropical home in exchange for tutoring.

Thanks to a dear friend from my Mizzou Ag Econ days, we found Ms. Mitzi—education extraordinaire. She came to Nicaragua for a few months, quickly fell in love with our community (and yes, our coffee and leather too!). The feeling was mutual!

Before long, Mitzi had an idea: she’d raise funds with Twin Engine Coffee & Origin Creations to give back locally. With those proceeds, plus help from our Las Peñitas community friends and our team, we created a reading & kickball camp for beach kids who otherwise would never have access to summer enrichment.

It wasn’t fancy, but it was collaboration in its purest form.

✨ Funny (and moving) takeaways:

  • Spanish word searches? A huge hit.

  • More kids showed up than signed up (in Nicaragua, there’s always room for one more!).

  • A 6-year-old barefoot girl out-kicked me when I hurt my toe trying in sneakers.

  • And the tearjerker… a TEC team dad reading aloud to kids for the very first time. You did such a great job, Hector!

These small (huge??) moments remind us that coffee can be more than a drink—it’s collaboration, connection, and opportunity.

So this International Coffee Day, we raise our cups to you. Because none of this would be possible without your collaboration.

With gratitude,
Andrea &
the Twin Engine Coffee Team

👉 PS. Would you like to help make the next camp happen? Let’s talk.
